unfinished portraits
like beauty, art too is perhaps in the eye of the beholder. so it
is not for me to claim that the following is art... but merely to
suggest that it is a temptation, a possibility.
and so it remains: like the life it portrays in its attempt in
the art of portraiture--incomplete, unfulfilled, abandoned...

the artist's studio

portrait of a possibility (oil on canvas, unfinished)
|

the muse (pastel on canvas, study for painting yet to be painted)
|
|
to the patient observer, the form in the canvas emerges of its own will.
yet, the image remains an imagination.
|
the possibilities emerge, obscured only by the vision of the viewer.
but even as the face blossoms, eyelids bloom,
eyes shine triumphantly with the delight of existence, she remains
out of sight.
|
and so the search, as it is for the non-existent, is destined
to be continued: involuntarily, foolishly, pointlessly; constantly in
pursuit of a vision that disappears the moment it is sighted, while all
the possibilites are to remain unrealized...like unfinished paintings...
